2024 Sustainability Report

Reduced Emissions & Water Withdrawal

Scope 1 & 2 Emissions: We identified high impact opportunities to reduce our emissions. Compared to 2023, we reduced our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 18.6%!

Water Withdrawal: The water recycling system at our Turtle Lake facility reduces our water withdrawal. Compared to 2023, we reduced our water withdrawal by 3%.

Renewable Energy

Norswiss Farms, one of our cherished dairy farm partners, installed solar panels at the farm in 2024. Norswiss Farms also has an anaerobic digester onsite, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing renewable energy production capacity.

At our Turtle Lake cheesemaking facility, high strength liquid waste is transported through a pipe under the road to a neighboring anaerobic digestion system. In 2024, 4,102,764 gallons of waste were transformed into biogas and renewable energy through this system.

Waste Reduction

The dedicated team at our Fall Creek facility spearheaded a new recycling initiative in 2024. They worked with their waste hauler to implement a stretch wrap recycling program. The stretch wrap is collected from incoming materials shipments and baled onsite. It takes approximately 6 months to collect enough stretch wrap for a full bale!

We’ve recycled 2,700 pounds of stretch wrap.

Sustainable Packaging

420,965 pounds of virgin plastic saved annually by transitioning to 50% recycled PET plastic jar.

Our packaging and sustainability teams provide tailored solutions to support our customers’ packaging goals while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards. In 2024, we worked with a key customer to transition one of their private label products into a 50% recycled PET jar.

Transportation

52,000 miles of travel have been eliminated from our packaging transportation annually.

Our packaging procurement team worked with our suppliers to optimize sourcing locations for key items. By adjusting sourcing locations, they reduced our packaging transportation footprint by over 52,000 miles annually. Through our intermodal transportation program, our transportation and logistics team avoided 78 metric tons of CO2e compared to highway truck transportation alone.

Food Waste Reduction

410,702 pounds of food recovered through inventory risk reduction.

Our innovative inventory risk reduction program highlights high risk inventory that meets our quality and safety standards and identifies avenues to recover the product before it is wasted. Through the hard work of our inventory risk team, 410,702 pounds of product were recovered in 2024.
